Time to Come Home

So here you are on the downside of your life wondering about all the “what ifs”, Your
maybe not so happy inside and no matter what you seem to do you can’t seem to
generate any lasting peace in your heart, your family or your job. A little
memory of your childhood flashes across your mind on occasion, sometimes
bringing a smile to your face and in some cases pictures of pain, abuse, or
tragedy. As your age, you’ve just about done it all and tried it all. More and
more you begin to think of the closing moments of your life and what will the
outcome be, how will I face death and where will I go if anywhere.Perhaps at one point in your life you prayed, maybe attended church, maybe you
even got born again and asked Jesus into your life, but the struggles of life,
the lure of “making it”, the divorces, the tragedy’s that came your way, the
drinking and drugs, and your immoral behavior or doing the clubbing thing wound
up getting the best of you. In the deep recesses of your soul and heart you want
to come back to God, or find Him for the first time, but you don’t know how and
don’t have a clue how to go about it. Burned out on religion and the hypocrisy
you see in churches today (although you haven’t walked though a set of church
doors in months, maybe years) and disillusioned at some of the so called
Christians you know or meet, you wonder about it all. You think, if only I could
hear God or maybe see a miracle or better yet an Angel or anything that would
give me some hope. You secretly dust off your Bible when no one is around and
glance at it, but the joy you had at one time is long gone, and you know you
have not lived right for years and now those piercing words you heard at some
point in your life return to your mind.. ” You must be born again” or ” God so
loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son..”or maybe you attended some
summer vacation bible school where you sang, “Jesus loves me this I know…” On
and on at various times past memories  hit your thoughts and you shake it off.
No way I could go to heaven now, I have sinned too much, done too many horrible
things, God can’t love me anymore, I am too far gone….but way down deep you
hope….way down deep you wish things were different.
You watch the news and see nations falling apart, disasters on every continent, earthquakes
everywhere and the weather going crazy all over the world. Everyone is talking
about the end times, Christians and non-Christians alike. What is going on?
Could it really be close to the end of the age? Maybe I could go to some church,
or watch God TV and somehow get it together…but wait, a few years ago you had
an abortion or you talked someone into having one and even though you thought at
the time it would be ok, the stain of that sin taking the life of your unborn
baby crushes your heart and the memory has never left you. Even today you
remember and sadness fills your being….What if , what if…In your mind you
say…no way God could love me now, its too late, I have done to much, there is
no hope for me….but guess what…all these things can be forgiven, not some,
all of them, no matter what you and I have done, all can be forgiven.
You see, I was the man in this story, I was the biggest sinner of them all and now I
am forgiven and set free! The peace of God reigns in my heart and I am so
thankful God didn’t give up on me and He won’t give up on you….if only you
will come home. In Psalms 68:5,6 it reads ” A father of the fatherless and a
judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God makes a home for the
lonely; He leads out prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in
a parched land”.
Our Father in heaven still loves you, and is waiting for
you to come home. Now is the time, today is your day of salvation, don’t let it
pass you by….Many people say “oh I believe in Jesus ” but so do the demons of
hell and they shudder as they know their time is almost up,  that’s not going to
save you. James 2:19 reads: “You believe that God is one. You do well; the
demons also believe, and shudder.’ Some say I was baptized, that’s not going to
save you. John 3:5 states:” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless
one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God.” You see, you can’t play church, there has to be a real commitment
from your heart, a repenting from your heart, a turning away from the things of
the world. I John 2:15 says ” Do not love the world nor the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.” Does this mean
you are not to enjoy life? No, God gave you life! it means not to love the lust
of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, for all
that is in the world is not from the Father, but is from the world.
I said to God one time ” I just can’t do this, it’s too hard ” maybe you have said
this too. But you know what? That is a lie from the devil. Romans 6:14
says: ” For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but
under grace.” And again in Romans 6:17 ” But thanks be to God that though you
were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart (not your mind) to
that form of teaching to which you were committed.” And again in Romans 6:22 ”
But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit,
resulting in sanctification, and the outcome eternal life.” Ok, so how do
you get back to God or become born again of the Spirit? From the heart…crying
out to Jesus to forgive you and asking Him to come into your life and save you
and change you from the inside out with faith asking Him to fill you with the
Holy Spirit to give you the power to live for Him. Romans 10: 8,9,10 says this:
” The word is near you , in your mouth and in your heart -that is
the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your
mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from
the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart (not your head) a
person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses,
resulting in salvation.” Can it be that easy? Yes! a thousand times Yes!
if you mean it from your Heart!!! God is not a man that He can lie…so
yell it out right now…verbally, say it out loud! If you mean it with all your
heart God’s peace will envelop you immediately. I John 5:10 states “The one who
believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself…..You will know and
feel the presence of God. and if you don’t, you are probably not saved as the
word of God cannot lie….
” These things I have written to you who
believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have
eternal life.”
Hebrews 4:3 says “For we who have believed enter that rest,
just as He has said….” vs 9, 10 further explains ” So there remains a Sabbath
rest for the people of God, for the one who has entered His rest has himself
also rested from his works, as God did from His.”  Rest, stop fighting it, stop
trying to earn you way by doing works or by being a good person, or by some
ordnance of the church like baptism (but your commanded to be baptised after you
believe). God will see you through, trust him. Believe today and tomorrow and
for the rest of your life, believe all the word of God not just what your
denomination says, (unless it teaches the whole Bible) believe God not religious
preachers, not anyone but believe the word of God. Jesus is the word of God and
became flesh and dwelt among us…..
