Pray and Don’t Lose Heart
Jesus told us in Luke 18 a couple of parables about prayer that many of us may have not paid much attention to and so we lose heart sometimes when we see our prayers seemingly go unanswered.
“Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not lose heart.” “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, “Give me legal protection from my opponent.” For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; “now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay LONG over them? “I tell you that HE will bring about justice for them quickly. However when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
Hidden in this parable are stunning truths about prayer. No matter what circumstance you are facing, do not stop praying because the Lord will answer you lest you wear Him out with your prayers. For that situation in your life, no matter what it is, don’t give up, keep praying. There are many who have prayed for years to see their sons and daughters become born again and saved and have just about given up because they don’t see it happening. Don’t give up, keep praying, you have no idea what God is doing behind the scenes to bring your loved ones into the kingdom. You may even never see it happen while you’re alive, but even after your gone to be with the Lord, your prayers will be answered, they just don’t go away into the cosmos. Revelation says the prayers of the saints (believers) are captured and held. “….the twenty-four elders fell down before the lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”(Rev 5:8) and again in 8:3 it reads, “ Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.” And finally “And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.” Stop and think about this; your prayers go before the throne of God and never forgotten.
All the weeping and heartbreaks you have experienced while on this earth are not forgotten because Messiah Jesus loves you so much. Psalm 56:8 states, “you have taken account of my wanderings; put my tears in a bottle. Are they not in your book?”
Perhaps you have or know someone close to you who have issues like drinking, doing drugs, pornography, illicit sex, hate or unforgivenes and the list goes on and on. Perhaps your marriage is deep trouble. Maybe you are losing your home. Maybe you have lost your job or have don’t have enough money to pay your bills. Your doctor could have given you bad news or you’re facing death due to your health. Listen, God still loves you and has not forgotten you. Jesus is still Lord and King of Kings and the bible is still the word of God, Jesus is the word and the truth and the life. He promised HE will never leave you nor forsake you, ever! Don’t stop praying, don’t give up now.
And when you pray forgive. Forgive from your heart so that times of refreshing may come to you and your Father in heaven will also forgive your sins. “Sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”(Romans 6:14)
Remember? Will not the God of the elect bring about justice for HIS own? He will, count on it.
“What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You have not because you do not ASK. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with WRONG MOTIVES, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is HOSTILITY TOWARD GOD? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an Enemy of God. (James 4)
Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THEM, AND THEY WILL BE GRANTED YOU! (Mark 11:24)
And if you have not done so believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your entire household……..
