Baby Boomers Religion

It’s so easy to get down on yourself in today’s world with all the chaos going on all around us and feeling the pressures of this life, sometimes to the point where you can’t take it anymore and in many cases people wind up doing something stupid. As hearts grow colder and colder sin increases more and more. Faith is on the decline as many throw up their hands and say what’s the use. If there’s one thing that I have learned in this life it’s that we are all sinners and we sin daily regardless of how much piety we might feel at times. We are all flesh and that flesh wars against out spirit as the Apostle Paul stated. Paul went on to say why is it that I do the things I don’t want to do and don’t do the things that I need to do, “wretched man that I am” who shall deliver me from sin and death? Thanks be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the answer and can save us and will save us if we turn to him in our time of need. One passage that means a lot to everyone is the passage that states ” come boldly to the throne of Grace in your time of need.” You see, our father knew that we are all sinners and weak and make mistakes and sin. Even though we may read our Bibles every day and pray every day and go to church every weekend, we still fall so short of what God really wants in our lives. The longer I live and that’s been a while now, almost 69 years to be exact, i’ve come to realize how wretched we are as humans, how sinful and how unworthy we are for the gift of salvation that is so undeserved. God richly gives us this gift as we surrender and commit our lives to him. We truly deserve hell but thanks to Jesus we don’t have to go there if we believe in our hearts the gospel message of restoration and forgiveness. Even our pride sometimes gets in the way of the truth because we are saved and have made a commitment and feel superior to others because of God’s grace. Instead of being very thankful and humble about it we let our pride get in the way. The important thing to remember is without God’s loving grace we would never make it to heaven. Without Jesus obeying the father and coming and living as a sinless man and dying on the cross we would never make it to heaven. Without God’s great mercy that endures forever we would never make it to heaven. The word says that if any man sins let him go to the father who is merciful and compassionate and He will forgive your sins as you confess them and forgive others who have sinned against you if you truly forgive them from your heart. We should all be so thankful that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the father and forever makes intercession for us. He alone is the Lord and Savior of our souls and our defender because he shed his blood for us and His blood covers all our sins; otherwise no one would ever make it to heaven. For me praying the Lord’s prayer every morning the very first thing when I wake up helps me remember who God is and his will be done in my life every day. Though I fall and fail so miserably at times in life I know that Jesus said he has not lost a single one and no one is able to take them out of his hand and the Father is greater than all and no one’s able to take them out of the father’s hand. The reality is that this life is a fight and a war. It’s  a fight to do what’s right and a fight and a war to stay on the right track. It can be overwhelming at times,  but as the Bible says nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus! You know why you should never give up on yourself? Never throw in the towel , never quit never cower down?  It’s because God said in his word “my mercy and compassion are new every morning.” Think about that, every single morning you wake up God’s mercy is new,  his compassion is new because he loves us so much. So whatever you might be going through our whatever you have gone through get up, look up, and keep up the good fight. Fight to keep your faith strong, fight to keep believing, fight and keep trying, fight to keep praying, fight to keep living because Jesus fought for you against the forces of evil. We know the ending of the book and we do win because Jesus won and said it is finished. I believe that; it is finished, Jesus is our sacrifice and because of him we will make it. Remember out best is filthy rags according to the Bible, so there’s no reason to get all puffed up with pride. And by the way after you asked forgiveness be sure and forgive yourself because Jesus forgave you so don’t let the enemy of your soul beat you to death about your past sins. As soon as you confess them and ask forgiveness God forgets them and remembers them no more…
