Baby Boomers Religion

I’ve heard many Christians from several different denominations say on several occasions that no where in the Bible does it say we need to ask Jesus in our hearts, even going so far as to call this a heresy and false salvation to those who do it. Really? It appears they don’t know the Bible or what Jesus actually said in Revelation 3:20. Why? Because they don’t spend any time reading Revelation. They neither understand it or write off the the entire book as some sort of symbolism.

And what does Revelation 3:20 say? “ Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me”. What is the door? It can only be your heart. So if someone hears the gospel and opens the door of their heart to Jesus, then by His Holy Spirit He comes in through the doorway, which is your heart, to your spirit and you become born again by believing with your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. For through Him by the Holy Spirit is grace and faith and the only way to have fellowship with the Father in heaven.

When you ask Jesus into your heart He comes in and dines with you meaning he takes up residence in your spirit and seals it for the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13, 4:30 and II Corinthians 1:22) and through the Holy Spirit that He sends you He teaches you to observe all things He commands. If I were you I would open your heart and ask Jesus to come in and save you. You can’t clean yourself up, only Jesus can clean your house and clean you up as you surrender to Him all the areas of your heart.

When the people ask what must I do to be saved in Acts what was the response from Peter? Repent and be baptized and you will receive the GIFT of the Holy Spirit. So am I saying baptism alone saves you? No I’m not and neither does the verse; however when you read all the conversions in the book of Acts what did those who believed do right away? They got baptized in water and so should we do the same because Jesus commanded it. You’ll also notice that they all believed FIRST and Confessed Jesus and were pricked in their hearts when they heard the Gospel. That’s why Paul said in Romans 10:8-11 “

“ what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart,”that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.

It is just as the Scripture says: “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on Him, for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

The gospel of salvation is fairly easy to understand if you hear with your heart and not some man made doctrine. Paul says the gospel is simple and it is the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. So you hear with your heart (not your mind only), you believe with your heart ( not just your mind), you obey from your heart, (not just agree intellectually)you confess Jesus is Lord from your heart, (not just words from the mind spoken), you obey Jesus commandment to be baptized ( not to join a church) and you ask Jesus into your heart which is by the Holy Spirit.

“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” (1st Corinthians 12:13)

15And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16“He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. 17“These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”(Mark 16:15-18)

Jesus wants us to ask Him into our heart. He wants us to ask Him to baptize us in the Holy Spirit. For our heart is the door and He is knocking. Will you open the door? Ask Him in right now…
