Baby Boomers Religion

It’s started again, that NCAA and NFL programming that keeps you glued to your television, hiding in your man cave away from your worries on Saturday’s and Sunday’s and Monday’s and even on Thursday nights. Totally obsessed and checking your fantasy starting lineup after slapping down your doe to join a fantasy league. Now you watch every single game you can so you can see how your players are doing. Your mates are now an afterthought and until after the Super Bowl in February next year, close relationships are put on the shelf until then, when you take grudgingly take them back off the shelf and try to repair six months of damage and in many cases are shocked and wonder why things aren’t quite the same.

Watching wealthy players who disrespect our country and our flag and could care less they are destroying the very golden goose that feeds their over the top lifestyle while the vast majority of fans works their tail off everyday just to make ends meet, and feed their family. Intertwined in the coming six months is Baseball through October and into November and the NBA Basketball starting up in the fall and lasting until summer. Now many can go from one Idol and obsession to another without skipping a beat.

Sports in and of themselves are not harmful and many of us played all of them through high school creating a fun filled atmosphere of family and friends all linking together to have kinship and Friendship and great fellowship and fun, but today’s obsessions are quite different. Lost in the generational shuffle of actual face to face interaction, people today are transfixed on social media screens of their phones, clicking self portraits and sharing intimate details of their lives for the world to see with depressed personalities if the praise doesn’t come with likes and messages of praise and adoration of new hairstyles or clothing or vacations or foods. And now beginners begin as soon as their little hands can hold a phone and grandma’s and grandpa’s even get into the act fearing they are being left behind in a cultural revolution of high tech and false realities. The future memories and thinking and knowledge will be and already is becoming the phone. No need to study, just ask the phone for answers to all of life’s questions or so it would seem. But the truth is far darker and will be much more sinister.

Lost in the world of all these obsessions is the true meanings of life itself. Why am I here, does God exist, what happens when I die, how can I be happy or successful and find true love, is there life after death? All these answers are in one book; the Holy Bible. That book that few read any longer, the one that taught your elders about the Messiah, Jesus Christ who was and is and is to come. The Son of God who loves you and died for you so you can live forever in heaven with Him if you only believe and put your trust in Him who says I will never leave you nor forsake you. Sadly most don’t know Him at all and young ones are concerned much less, being taught the truth the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now there are Bible phone apps, most for free, but rarely used. Taking up space on the home screen are all the sports apps and music apps and game apps. Society now worships apps with sports and pornography and everything imaginable that takes people away from God. This nation is in very serious trouble and judgment is coming for the people who refuse to repent and turn back to God. Judgments come in many forms like the wildfires burning in the west or flooded cities like Houston and New Orleans or earthquakes or various other weather anomalies. By open borders we are being invaded and war rumors are in the news more each day. God allowed invaders to defeat and enslave Israel, will the same future be for America? It will be if the Idol worship does not cease and the hundreds of killings of babies doesn’t stop. How much longer will Gods grace rest on America with such wickedness and corruption? Repent and call upon Jesus and if you die in all this mess, you’ll live will be saved. “For whoever loses his life for my sake will be saved, but whoever saves his own life will lose it” The answer is surrender to God and train up your children and grandchildren to know God. There is none righteous, not a single one, only Jesus can help you and save you, give your life to Him today and join the millions who have come to know Him and live forever…
