God is speaking today, are you listening? He speaks over and over to your spirit during your lifetime if your are truly born again. People mock and laugh when you might say “God told me ” or “I really felt like God is telling me” or “I heard a still small voice inside me say” or “I feel this great impression to do this or that.” If that’s the case with you, don’t worry, God is speaking to millions everyday, many times a day, all over the world and your not alone.
How do we know that God speaks today? Simple, the Bible explicitly says so. Here it is: ” MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:27-28) That seems plain enough to me, Jesus said so. Many folks believe only the second part that no one can snatch a born again believer out of His hand, but totally disregard the first part where He says My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me. I wonder why that is? I think a lot of it has to do with dead churches and dead pastors who “Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:5) preach from the pulpits today and do not preach the full gospel of Jesus Christ. But the biggest reason people deny Jesus speaks to us as individuals today is one of two things: 1) unbelief or 2) lack of knowledge.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER. (Hebrews13:8) This verse shoots down any and every excuse anyone could possibly come up with regarding any supernatural experience and gifts of the Spirit today! People who hold only a form of godliness but deny its power are very deceived by santanic religion and doctrine. I might include not only people but churches and denominations as well. The devil keeps them in the dark by deception and lies. Three times Jesus told us “Do not not be deceived.” Don’t let yourself be deceived. Seek truth from the Bible as it will set you free indeed.
So getting back to the theme of this post of hearing Gods voice, how do we do that? The first thing is to make absolutely sure you are saved and born again. You cannot hear Gods voice if your not saved and born again and have the Holy Spirit living inside you. What did Jesus say? “Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of THE SPIRIT is spirit. DO NOT MARVEL THAT I SAID YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.”(John 3:5-7) How does it happen? Jesus answers this question. ” THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” (John 3:15) He who believes in the Son has eternal life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:30) Believe in your heart (not just your head) that Jesus Christ is Lord and confess it by speaking it out with your mouth, Romans 10:9-10 says. Is there any other thing to do, actually yes there is REPENT, which is confessing your a sinner and need God and then actually turning away from your past lifestyle of sin without God. Is there anything else? Yes, you need to be baptized as Jesus said and did, representing His death and resurrection. But be warned; getting baptized without first repenting and confessing Jesus from your heart will be just getting wet. We are saved by grace (unmerited favor) through faith and that not of ourselves, it is a gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8) Is there anything else? Yes, be filled with the Spirit. And how do I do that? Just ask Jesus to baptize you in His Spirit. John the Baptist said (speaking of Jesus) ” and He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and Fire.” (Matthew 3:11, Luke 3:16) So if your born again will you hear God? Absolutely but you must be quiet and listen.
In today’s world it’s very hard to get quiet and listen with all the distractions of the world, but setting aside a few minutes of quiet time will help tremendously. Get alone somewhere and just talk to God and then listen and talk some more to Him. Here’s a novel idea; ask Him to talk to you! What’s it like? It comes from your belly/chest, not your head, and moves up and you hear words or short sentences. Most of the time it will be very short ,maybe even only a couple of words, sometimes a long sentence. And when You hear it you know it is God and not your own thoughts and it’s not an audible voice, it’s like hearing thoughts from deep inside you and they always line up with good, not evil, although you can get warnings to avoid danger. God loves you and wants your love and praise and He is still the same yesterday today and forever. With the turmoil in the world today, you must get and stay close to God and hear His voice for yourself….
